Company History
Warren Rademacher and Warren Basket formed RB Associates in 1956. Rademacher's background was in the plumbing industry and Basket, coming from Red Jacket Pump Company, had an excellent pump background. The original company was started in the basement of Rademacher's house.
The 1970's were major growth years for RB as both product lines and territories were expanding. In 1972 the company moved to a small office building located in downtown Ames. Nebraska was added as a sales territory and traveled by Warren Basket. John Rademacher joined the firm in 1969 to call on Eastern Iowa accounts and was based in Cedar Rapids. Warren Rademacher was calling on accounts in Central Iowa and was making the executive decisions from the home office. Sales were rapidly increasing and it was necessary for the customer service department to expand to two people. In 1978 the company hired a new salesman for the Eastern Territory and John Rademacher transferred to Ames to travel Central Iowa and to help manage the business. In 1979 Warren Basket retired and Warren Rademacher purchased the remaining stock. At this time a new salesman was hired for the Nebraska territory.
The early 80's were seesaw years for RB; the economy in Iowa was in a state of change and flux. Even with economic uncertainty RB made a major commitment to growth, with the purchase of a headquarters office building in 1982. The building consist of 3,000 square feet on three acres of land. In 1985 the sales in the Nebraska Territory started to bounce back, RB committed to establishing a permanent business office in Omaha with a salesman, a secretary and equipment to better serve our Nebraska customers.
The 1990's began with RB Associates in remodeled office facilities with a 2500 square foot warehouse addition. In 1991 Warren retired and John took over the business. In 1993 the economy was again unstable due to the tremendous flooding in the Midwest. Recovery was strong and in 1994 our warehouse capabilities were expanded with a 7500 square foot cold storage addition. Additionally offices were added in Des Moines, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Peoria, Illinois for salesman in those respective territories.
In November of 1998, RB merged with R&R Sales from Kansas City, Missouri and formed a new company. In Depth Marketing was created with John Rademacher as President, Joe Richard and Jon Richard as new partners. With this creation the new territories of Kansas, Missouri, and Southern Illinois were added, as well as additional offices in Kansas City, Missouri, St Louis Missouri, and with the Cedar Rapids, Iowa office moving to Dubuque, Iowa
In January of 2005 In Depth Marketing added on an additional 4800 square foot warehouse to better serve our manufacturers and customers.
John Rademacher decided to step out of the day to day operations in July of 2006 and reduce his responsibilities to being an active consultant for In Depth Marketing.
With our ever changing industry, In Depth Marketing looks toward the future for continued growth and service to both our manufacturers and our customers.
